Central Carroll Rec Council's Volunteer of the Year - Ed Prinz
Yesterday, our own Ed Prinz was recognized as the Central Carroll Rec Council's Volunteer of the Year. Here's the blurb from the event:
Ed Prinz has been a long-term volunteer for Finksburg Baseball. He has coached baseball for 13 years and has been with the Finksburg Baseball & Lady Lions Softball Program since 2021. Currently, in 2025, Ed is in his fourth year of managing our baseball equipment, including collecting, sorting, repairing, and distributing it. In the spring of 2025, Ed was the age group coordinator for three baseball age groups, only one of which involved a child he had. In the fall, he is coordinating 2 age groups, and has two children playing in just one of them. Ed spends an amount of time at our fields and ballpark that is beyond parallel. He is the first there on a rainy day (of which we've had plenty this year) and spends time there each week working on ball diamonds. He coaches in some capacity each season and is currently one of our Seniors (13-17) age coaches. Ed is a social studies teacher in Baltimore County Public Schools.
It should also be noted that the Prinz family is right behind him, as his wife, Melissa, manages our calendar, which is a huge task, and his older son, James, is one of our longest-standing umpires, officiating in both Rec and Travel Ball. His younger son, David, accompanies Ed to almost everything and is a first-class helper.
Many thanks to Ed and the entire Prinz family. We have very few volunteers and even fewer who step up at this level. And as always - HELP WANTED!
